On behalf of the Sabah Four Wheel Drive Association and the Organising Committee of the 33rd Borneo Safari International Offroad Challenge, it gives me great pleasure to extend a heartfelt welcome to all participants, both local and international, members of the media, and competitors who have travelled from near and far to be part of the region's most iconic and longest-running extreme offroad event.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude to the Chief Minister of Sabah, Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor; the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Malaysia; the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Sabah (MSN); the Sabah Forestry Department and Sabah Tourism Board, for their invaluable support and sponsorship. Our sincere thanks also go to our corporate sponsors and government agencies whose strong backing makes this event possible.
This year, our opening Special Stages (SS) will take place at Nabawan Town. From there, competitors will embark on a journey through the rugged, untamed jungles of within the Tongod Forest Reserve, areas that are both breathtaking and demanding, far beyond the usual tourist trails. These challenging terrains not only highlight Sabah's reputation as a premier extreme 4x4 destination but also the natural beauty of the Land Below the Wind.
Beyond the thrill of competition, Borneo Safari also carries with it a spirit of responsibility. Our Scout Team will be conducting medical outreach programmes to serve and support the rural communities along our route, reminding us that this journey is also about giving back to the people who call these remote regions home.
I would like to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the Organising Committee, whose commitment and passion have once again brought this remarkable event to life. Their hard work ensures that the Borneo Safari continues to be more than a competition and expedition, it is a celebration of camaraderie, endurance, and respect for nature.
As we embark on our 33rd edition of the event, I encourage all participants to embrace the values of teamwork, skill, and safety. Let us also uphold our strong commitment to the principle of 'Leave No Trace', preserving the environment and ecosystems for future generations.
I wish everyone an exhilarating and memorable Borneo Safari 2025, and I look forward to welcoming you again at the next edition of this legendary event.
Let the adventure begin!
